Swimming lessons

Why learn to swim?

Swimming is a great way for children to have fun and stay healthy, but for parents at least, its main attraction is safety.

It’s never too early for a child to begin their path towards becoming a strong and safe swimmer – in fact often the younger the child is the easier they will find it to pick it up. The new East Riding of Yorkshire Council aqua baby award scheme introduces pre-school children from as young as four months to the water and teaches them to be confident in the pool.

The East Riding of Yorkshire Council teaches over 5,500 children and adults a week to swim on the learn to swim scheme, with ages ranging from 4 months to 60+ years.

Free swimming

As part of our swimming lessons, you can now take advantage of the FREE unlimited swim pass.

With this pass, throughout your children's time in lessons, they can come and swim as often as they like for free! Once they finish lessons the pass will be withdrawn.

The pass is available for all adults and children currently enrolled on the East Riding Learn to Swim Scheme.  The unlimited swim pass is valid for the duration of the swimming course.  Terms and conditions apply.

Do you want to learn to swim?

Please download the swimming lesson application form below or pick one up from your local leisure site. Children can be inserted onto the waiting lists for pre-school from the age of 3yrs, and Grade 1 from 4yrs and 6 months old. Children wanting to access grades 2-10 need to contact the centre to arrange a pre-assessment. Every effort is made to place children and adults in lessons within 10 weeks.
