Landmark total of 100, 000 swims reached

A Summer of Success at East Riding Leisure Bridlington

Staff at the new East Riding Leisure Bridlington – which opened its doors in late May 2016 –are celebrating a summer of success.

The popularity of the new centre has exceeded expectations. The centre marked its 100,000th swim last week, with a visit by Mark Clifton and his five year-old daughter Tallulah, from Bridlington.

This impressive total of swims compares to a total of 60,000 at the former pool in the town on the same site during the same time period in the past.

A remarkable total of over 3100 members have now signed up (including 2100 brand new starters).

The centre is looking forward to another busy week next week for October half term – the opening hours for the Splash Zone and Clip ‘n Climb are being extended. Full details of opening times are on the website. Customers are encouraged to book in advance for their Splash Zone sessions.

The new Tourist Information Centre and the Café Vibe have also recorded very successful summer seasons, and both new facilities are already well established in the town.

Councillor Stephen Parnaby OBE, leader of the council, commented : “East Riding Leisure Bridlington has quite clearly started a new era of health and fitness here. You can’t argue with these statistics, which show what a huge success the new centre has already become.

“I am delighted that East Riding Leisure Bridlington is contributing directly to the health and welfare of the town, as well as being a very popular venue for fun and leisure, whatever the weather.

“I have no doubt that it will continue to go from strength to strength, helping to make more people more active and acting as a ‘magnet’ for tourists to visit the town and explore the other superb facilities it has to offer.”

East Riding Leisure Bridlington offers a 25-metre swimming pool; the Splash Zone with two interactive waterslides and waterplay features; the Tone Zone with 100 stations; the Clip ‘n Climb area; an exercise studio; a sports hall; a Jacuzzi and health suite; and a café.
